With the new year approaching, many of us start thinking about things we want to change or improve on. However, once the new year starts it is not uncommon to fall back into old habits. Below, Tera shares 5 tips on how to set your resolutions, so that you follow through and transform your goals into lasting changes.
1. Get crystal clear on what you want. Clarity brings about results.
In order to increase your chances of success, your goals need to be clear and specific. For example, instead of saying “I want to lose weight,” try “I’m going to lose 20 lbs.” By adjusting your goals in this way, they become quantifiable and easier to achieve.
2. Set an ultimate goal to be accomplished within a year, then break that down into weekly and monthly goals.
Similarly, it is important to lay out steps that will get you to your goal. Plan out exactly what you will do in order to achieve your goal.
3. Decide on a reward to give yourself after accomplishing your weekly and monthly goals.
A small reward can motivate us further towards achieving our goals. It’s important to celebrate the small wins throughout your path, and not just the end goal.
4. Choose an accountability partner.
By choosing an accountability partner, you are more likely to follow through with your actions. Choose someone who will motivate you and make sure that you are completing your set tasks.
5. Place your goals in a visible place where you can see them everyday.
This will help you have a daily reminder of your goals and what you want to achieve, leading to action.
Follow these tips by renowned speaker and coach Tera Carissa Hodges to get real results from your new year’s resolutions.
